About me

I specialize in helping my clients turn their language and cultural challenges into success by offering world-class native translations, exceptional customer service and spot-on advice on how to make the most out of an investment in language services. Hailing from a wide variety of industries, my clients have one thing in common: they require great copy to advertise their products and services.

I completed my Master’s in Traduction Spécialisée Multilingue (Specialized Multilingual Translation) at Université Grenoble Alpes (formerly known as Stendhal University) in France, specializing in marketing, legal and technical translation in English, French and Italian. I spent the first six years of my career working as an internal translator and project manager for several translation agencies before taking the plunge into the freelance world in 2013. I strive to offer accuracy, collaboration and authenticity in everything that I do.

I am a member of the American Translators Association and uphold the ATA’s Code of Ethics and Professional Practices.

What can I help you with today?

Translation is the art and science of writing your content in another language. It requires a deep understanding of the context in which it was articulated, and an equally deep understanding of the target market and culture, combined with impeccable writing skills. Translation is not word substitution. It is a careful process that begins with an open channel of communication between client and translator.

“Make it simple. Make it memorable. Make it inviting to look at. Make it fun to read.” – Leo Burnett. Your English or French documents have already been professionally written or translated, and need an extra pair of eyes, focused on excellence and brand voice, to reach their full potential. Texts may be edited or proofread for content, structure, clarity, style and accuracy.

Transcreation is a hybrid service that combines translation and copywriting. It targets branded content that needs to be culturally adapted for another language, while generating similar emotions as the source text, in the same style and tone. Transcreation is meant to authentically carry over your message to a particular market, while transcending and respecting cultural and language boundaries at the same time.

Copywriting services are for you if you have always wanted to set up your own website or publish a set of brochures for example, but you would just rather focus on your core business because that is what you are good at. Let me write your copy for you. We’ll sit down together over coffee or on the phone to review your ideas and goals.

Quality assurance or QA, website testing, app testing or language sign-off is the process of verifying that your translated or localized content looks as it should in its final format. QA aims to ensure that there are no broken links, truncated sentences or issues with the display of accented characters. Unlike translation and editing, QA is a post-translation “final check” to make sure your product is ready to ship.

Interpreting is “spoken translation”. I offer English/French consecutive interpreting services, where speaker and interpreter take turns, in a variety of settings: business meetings, seminars, events, panels, interviews and presentations for corporate, cultural and casual conversations.

Knowing the names and qualifications of the people who will be translating your content is important to you. You value relationships, and that type of customer service that only the best individuals can provide. I will tailor a translation team to suit your needs, and act as your single point of contact. From transparency to continuity of style, there are many advantages to working with a group of dedicated independent professionals.

Looking for something else?

If your project doesn’t fit into the traditional service categories, that’s exciting! We will create an authentic and bold language solution that matches your needs in every way. Contact me today to get the conversation starting.

On recruiting freelance translators

This year, I worked on a recruitment project. My assignment was to find, assess and onboard a team of freelance translators for a new project going into multiple languages. A few thoughts on relaunching my website

You might be wondering why I decided to overhaul my website just 14 months after having launched its predecessor. I agree it’s a bit unusual; some of you might call it eccentric. Here is a summary of that thought process and of the lessons learnt. Squarespace is fantastic… for those who have enough time to…

Please note:

  • I am not trained for simultaneous interpreting, but I will gladly recommend a colleague who is.
  • Only credential evaluation services are qualified to give equivalents of your degrees and credentials.
  • While I am convinced that driverless cars are the future, machine translation output is clunky, tone-deaf and often inaccurate. I will work with you to produce beautiful human translations that do justice to your content.
